According to the customer’s raw material requirements, we use two different granulators for carbon black powder to carry out granulation experiments, these two different granulators are double roller granulator and new type organic fertilizer granulator.
Raw material: carbon black powder (rubber)
Fineness: 500-600 mesh, very fine and light, difficult to dissolve in water
Experiment 1: double roller granulation
Binder: not added
Moisture: 10-15%
One extrusion, basically no particles, need at least two sides to three extrusion after the particles are good, customers recommend using two-layer or three-layer rollers;
Pellet shape: semi-circular pellet shape due to multiple extrusion;
Pellet hardness: there is no hardness, it can be easily crushed with fingers;
Drying: after drying with microwave oven, the pellets become hard, but brittle and can be crushed;
Advantage: this process can produce high purity carbon black particles without adding binder;
Disadvantage: the pellet appearance is not round.
Experiment 2: new type organic fertilizer granulation
Binder: bentonite, about 20%
Moisture: 20-30%
Granulation: because the material is difficult to dissolve water, the first time to add more water, about 40-50%, out of most of the lumps; later add dry powder, successful granulation, the proposed moisture 20-30%;
Pellets into a round ball shape, the customer wants the size of 0.5-2mm, 0.5mm about 10%, 1mm and 2mm sieve after each half;
Pellet hardness: some hardness after natural drying.
Advantages: good shape of granule, suitable for customers who want small granule;
Disadvantages: need to add binder, can not accept the binder customers can not use this process.
Another difficulty of this material is mixing.
Mixing: Because the material is too fine and light, not good for mixing, not easy to dissolve in water, the manufacturer suggests using a flat roller mixer, but the experimental manufacturers are not equipped with this equipment, can not carry out experiments.
The experimental use of manual mixing, about more than half an hour, the mixing is not uniform.
In summary, the double roller granulation process is suitable for the preparation of high-purity carbon black particles without binder, but the shape of the particles is not completely spherical; the new type organic fertilizer granulation process is suitable for customers who require a beautiful shape of the particles, but it is necessary to add binder. In terms of mixing, due to the characteristics of the material, artificial mixing effect is not good, it is recommended to use flat mouth roller mixer for more uniform mixing.
New type organic fertilizer granulator and double roller granulator are two common fertilizer granulation equipment. They have some differences in the granulation principle, granulation effect, the use of scenes and so on.
